No one leaves home unless

...home begins to give way beneath them.

A photograph. A film trapped behind glass. A screenshot of yet another news alert. A scanned document with blurred stamps. A voice note, a video bubble in a chat, a notification: "iPhone Storage Full."

What happens when memory is increasingly entrusted to systems designed to store everything? What does preservation mean when accumulation produces overload rather than clarity? When the time comes for an urgent departure, what will we try to take with us?

In No One Leaves Home Unless, Serafima Bresler works with a raw spatial language in which memory encounters storage; the dream of escape collides with the material weight of arrival; and intimacy is compressed into information. Through textiles, screen printing, micro-displays and sound, the exhibition traces the ways migration and political threat are processed through the mechanisms of contemporary life.

A shifting coordinate system. A place of arrivals, departures, hesitation and waiting.

Navigation without a map. After all, no one leaves home unless.

Serafima Bresler is an artist based in Hamburg. Through her work, Bresler traces the quiet presence of catastrophe within domestic space, where disaster becomes ordinary, unseen, and deeply personal. Working across installation, textiles, video, and microdisplays, she explores how personal and collective memory are embedded in everyday environments.

She graduated from the Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HFBK) in 2024 with a degree in Time-Based Media and received her BA in Illustration from the British Higher School of Art & Design (BHSAD) in Moscow in 2020. In 2024 she was awarded the DAAD prize and in 2023 she received the merit scholarship for international students from the Hamburg Ministry of Science, Research, Equality and Districts. Her work has been exhibited at KDK Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, Kunsthalle Wilhelmshaven, De Balie in Amsterdam, Kunstquartier Bethanien in Berlin, Pushkin House in London and others.

Since 2022, Bresler has been a co-founder of the Artworkshop HH project, which supports children from families affected by displacement and the refugee crisis through free art workshops.
